Do your part this July!

Join millions of people around the globe by reducing your plastic waste.

Plastic Free July® is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.

Organic India excels in offering solutions and True Wellness products for conscious healthy living. We participate everyday in ensuring that our products have responsible packaging. Our Tulsi tea cartons are made from 100% recycled paperboard, with a minimum of 30% post-consumer content. Our tea bags are made from unbleached, biodegradable fibres, even the ink used for our tags is safe for you and the environment!

To support our founding vision, we were inspired to establish a new standard called EARTH SEER, for companies of the new paradigm dedicated to nurturing, serving and protecting the Earth and all living beings through their actions, products and services.

EARTH SEER stands for:

Ethical, Accountable, Reliable, Trustworthy, Holistic

Socially, Environmentally, Economically Responsible

Take the challenge this July to reducing your plastic waste. See below 5 easy tips to be more eco-friendly.

1. Shop only using reusable bags

When picking up your weekly staples or even just your fruit and vegetables from the supermarket, ensure to always keep your car stocked up with reusable shopping bags. If you want to go one step further, pick out your produce “naked”, which means do not use the single plastic bags to fill up your fruit and vegetables. That way you are avoiding bringing in unnecessary plastics into your home.

2. Throw out the plastics in the kitchen

Cling wrap, aluminium foil, paper towels and plastic zip lock bags are items that we find in our pantries, as they are quite convenient. This July, try and reduce or get rid of these plastics from your kitchen. So when cleaning up, swap out paper towels for microfibre cloths that you are able to wash and reuse. Use containers instead of zip lock bags and cling wrap to keep your food fresh. Just by implementing these simple things will minimise the amount of rubbish coming from your household on a day-to-day basis.

3. Put a STOP to plastic water bottles, takeaway cups and single use plastics

For coffee or hot drinks on the go, use a travel mug. It’s convenient and washable!  You can also use a double-insulated bottle or flask for your cold beverages (can also be used for hot drinks). This then enables you to have a better foot print. Single use plastics are things like plastic straws, utensils  or anything plastic that really can only be used once, instead buy the exact same thing in a reusable or compostable form.

4. Choose Bio-degradable packaging over plastic

When shopping always be conscious of your purchases and choose companies with a more eco-friendly approach. So instead buy boxes rather than bottles, products like laundry detergent come in cardboard which is more easily recycled than plastic. If you are unsure when choosing a product be sure to check the packaging for the recycle logo.

5. The 5 R’s for a better Planet

We all know the 3 R’s; Reduce, Reuse and Recycle but in actual fact there are 2 more which we tend to forget, Refuse and Repurpose. Let’s start by knowing how to use these in the correct order.

Refuse – Always think about your purchases and only purchase things that you do need, just by doing this allows us to reduce our greenhouse gas pollution

Reduce – Let go of things that are no longer of use to you by donating or selling and at the same time only focusing on necessary purchases

Reuse – Start switching from all disposable plastic items to permanent alternatives that can be reused

Repurpose – If you can’t Refuse, Reduce or Reuse an item, try repurposing it. This is known as up-cycling, for example try using left over boxes for storage. You’d be surprised what creative ways you can come up with to repurpose items.

Recycle – If you have navigated through the 4 R’s but you are still wanting to get rid of an item then recycling is the most eco-friendly waste disposal

By implementing one or all of the above steps, you are doing your part in protecting our beautiful earth. So take the challenge and help Earth this Plastic Free July.
