Spring has finally sprung! The long winter months have come to an end and our world is lighting up with beautiful flowers, fresh scents, and sunny days. Spring is a magical time full of growth and new beginnings. It is when we harness this seasonal transition as a way to cleanse our spirit that we can have a powerful awakening.
When we are in-touch with our senses, we embrace life in the fullest capacity. Being aligned with our environment and the universe allows us to feel grounded, energized, and in touch with our authentic selves. Unfortunately, the responsibilities of modern life often pull us away from this mindset. We get so busy and we forget about the things that really matter in life.
Here are four simple ways you can savour spring and experience a life-changing awakening.
1. Stay in the Moment
It was Bil Keane who said, “Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.” When we focus on things that happened in the past, we become still. The purpose of life is not to stay stuck in the same spot but to keep moving forward. If you focus on things that have already happened, you can’t embrace a positive future.
Understand that all past events are unchangeable experiences that whether good or bad, can be used for growth. Embrace what has occurred and use it as the foundation to move forward with your life. Focus on staying in the moment and appreciating all that is around you. Awareness of the present is key to experiencing a spring awakening.
2. Slow Down
This is easier said than done but it is so important to take the time to slow down as we go about our busy days. Most of us are hooked on using our mobiles, especially when we are waiting in line, waking up in the morning, or even watching TV. Not only does this keep us from staying in the moment, it does not allow our minds and bodies to relax.
We need to slow down, focus on our breathing, and enjoy the moment. “Dolce far Niente” is Italian for, “the sweetness of doing nothing.” When we slow down, we allow our bodies to heal, relax, and rejuvenate. Turn off your phone, look away from the TV, and savour the environment around you. Focus on your breath and feel your body ease into a relaxed state of mind. The more you stop hustling and bustling about it, the more likely you are to have an awakening.
3. Find something that makes you smile
Make it a goal to do at least one thing every day that makes you happy. It doesn’t have to be anything big. It could be simple as having a cup of ORGANIC INDIA Tulsi Tea. Not only does a positive mood make us feel good, studies have shown that it can actually improve our health.
Experiencing happiness has been linked to stronger immunity, fewer aches and pains, and longevity. When our body is healthy and our minds are happy, we can experience the joy of a spring awakening.
Through the practices of self-care, you can grow resources within yourself such as acceptance, peace, contentment and love. To learn more about this see our article, Self-Care & Compassion: The Foundations of True Wellness.
4. Reach out to others
One of the easiest ways to expand our minds and gain a new sense of perspective is to help others in need. Whether that be listening to a friend, opening a door for a stranger, donating clothes, serving food, or volunteering your time to a community cause, it’s all important, and it’s all connecting consciousness at large.
When we help others, we are helping ourselves, and we are helping the world at large. When we are awake and appreciative of all that is good in our world, it allows us to focus on the important things.
This spring, find something that speaks to your soul and go after it!
