What Is Tulsi

Tulsi, also called Holy Basil, is one of the most sacred plants in India and is considered “The Queen of the Herbs” for its restorative and spiritual properties. Also spelt Tulasi or Thulasi, it has been used for thousands of years to support a healthy response to stress, natural detoxification, and restore balance and harmony. Our infusions are not only delicious and organic, they are nature’s perfect rejuvenative.

Combining Tulsi with green tea deeply enhances each other’s remarkable health benefits including an abundance of potent phytonutrients and antioxidants, which protect the body from damaging free radicals. These compounds naturally supports the immune & cardiovascular systems and promote detoxification.

Tulsi (Holy Basil): Benefits to Body & Mind

Modern research has classified Tulsi as an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens have been shown to support the body’s healthy reactions to stress. Adaptogenic herbs have been used in the Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years to promote and maintain wellness. Many adaptogenic herbs have been referred to by herbalists as rejuvenative herbs, qi tonic herbs, rasayanas or restorative herbs. They help the body adapt to environmental, physical and emotional stressors, support normal functions and restore balance.

How to Brew your Tulsi Loose Leaf

To Make a Cup of Tulsi Loose Leaf Tea you will need a “tea basket” that inserts into a cup or an individual empty tea bag. Place a tablespoon of Tulsi tea leaves into the tea basket or tea bag, and place in your favourite mug. Bring clean fresh water to boil, and pour boiling water over Tulsi tea leaves in your cup.

Cover and let steep for 5 – 10 minutes. Remove tea basket or bag and enjoy. Use more tea leaves for a stronger flavour and less for a milder flavour, as per your taste. Please note: The stronger the tea, the more potent the benefits.

To Make 1 Quart of Iced Tea

Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 8 teaspoons of tea, cover and add sweetener if desired. Infuse for 20 minutes. Strain and add 2 cups of cold water, and refrigerate. Pour over ice to serve.
